I'll be watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade tomorrow.

Remember when I was surprised by the fact that October was over? Now it’s Thanksgiving and I haven’t written a thing all month!

It’s been a really busy month. There was a cupcake and champagne going away gathering for my friend Kari Ann, who is moving to Shanghai, China, along with her husband Bryan. There was baking a bunch of cupcakes for work for the winners of our “hygiene drive” that our team did to collect hygiene items we could give to our clients. There was David Sedaris, who I saw live with Caitlin and Chris. There was a tour of a free medical clinic on a Saturday morning, with several other health care minded people from Hope, as we begin to prepare to partner with other churches and conduct a free clinic in 2012. There was a visit from my very dear friend Nicole. There was a craft weekend at the coast with 6 other wonderful ladies (including Nicole). There was a birthday-I turned 33. There has been craziness at work. There was a concert. There has been running. There has been Christmas party planning. Tomorrow there will be Thanksgiving. And I’ve had 14 trillion crochet projects going, plus I somehow ended up with three very heavy library books-heavy in weight and material-all at the same time. I really want to read them all but only one can be renewed as the other two are on hold. So there’s been a good bit going on.

My team at work got brought in by the city to help with some of the Occupy Portland stuff-trying to house some of the homeless people who had been at the camp, when the deadline was set for the park to close, in an effort to minimize any potential violence. So things have been out of the ordinary busy there.

The running has been going well. I only wear my ankle brace when I’m running, and I will probably continue to wear it for a while. While I’ve had no problems with my ankle, it makes me nervous to think about running without it. And I’m gearing up to start on a new running plan, so I want to make sure it’s protected. I was going to start on the new plan this week but we’ve had really really hard rain most of this week, meaning too hard for me to run outside, and now I’m fighting off a slight cold so I’m resting from running for a few days. But I am very excited about the plan I’m about to start and feel really motivated to push myself. I also recently had the opportunity to talk about my running experience with a friend and she got so excited she’s started the couch to 5 k plan herself. I know some of you readers might tire of me talking about running, but I really just can’t help it. It’s been the most amazing thing I’ve done for myself in a really long time, maybe ever, and if I can share that excitement with someone else, I’m going to!

I’m crocheting a lot for Christmas presents. I’m really happy with how things are progressing and turning out (for the few projects that are done). I’m feeling quite productive. Awesome said I’m a machine. He also said there’s enough yarn in the apartment to open a store. It would be a small store, but maybe. However as each day goes by, there is less and less unused yarn, so it wouldn’t really be a very good yarn store. It dawned on me recently that I’ve barely made anything for myself since the first couple of scarves I made, almost 2 years ago. So I’ve decided that in 2012, I’m going to focus on making more things for me. Not that I’ll stop making gifts, but I’d like to use my skills for myself on occasion too!

I’m sorry I’ve been so slack at writing. It’s not for lack of wanting to write! I hope to be a much better blogger in 2012. A better writer in general, if I can.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! I hope it’s a day filled with people and food you love!
